Question of the Day

Is it hypocritical to judge someone for being judgmental?

Just wondering.

Not necessarily. We're all judgmental; that's just human nature. Having a concept of right and wrong makes it necessary to judge between the two.

When we get upset at someone for being judgmental, it's not the actual judging we're annoyed with. There's an unspoken addendum: judgmental and being an ill-mannered [bodily orifice]about it. It's the snottitude that's the problem, not the judgment itself.

So you're probably quite right to judge a judgmental jerk. Because you're not a jerk. If that makes sense.

Thanks, Joel. That DOES make sense. That unspoken addendum makes all the difference, I think.
